EFA specialises in securing ‘carbon finance' for its clients through Certified Emission Reduction (CERs) and Emission Reduction Units (ERUs) generated by abatement projects initiated through the Kyoto Protocol project based market mechanisms such as Clean Development Mechanism (CDM), Joint Implementation (JI) and Emissions Trading.
There are two scenarios where EFA can assist Project Participants in crystallising CER revenue.
1. An abatement project developer seeks financial assistance in the development of the project. The developer contracts at a lower price, but gets the benefit of a strong financial partner, often with expertise in the sector concerned, to co-develop the project. EFA teams-up co-developers.
2. An abatement project developer finances and retains full custody of the development process and locks-in a known price forward selling the CERs. Price is dependent on a number of factors, including technology, performance and efficiency, environmental benefits, credit and guarantees. EFA works with the developer to determine the appropriate contract terms and then takes the project to market. This process is fully transparent, so the seller knows it is attaining the best possible market price. |
