Climate change has become the focal point of energy policy. With the intergovernmental panel formulating the Kyoto Protocol over a decade ago a number of governments have taken a series of measures to reduce the level of emissions below benchmark1990 levels.
Governments have a challenging task before them, limiting greenhouse gas emissions, maximising the use of renewable energy sources and improving efficiency in energy production. In doing so, it is imperative to maintain supply security without undermining social equity.
With a widespread shift of industries and sectors towards privatisation it has made it difficult for governments to enforce its objectives on energy policy.
EFA works with Government in developing pragmatic market based approaches which can be deployed as workable policies combining strategies of energy efficiency and environmental sustainability.
